Preview of what is to come. I am currently working on a collaboration with a board company of my photos as their graphics on their skateboards; I’ll post up links later when everything is set! Here is Jon Villagomez and Ryan Pickell
Wild in the Streets x Boards for Bros
On my road-trip with friends, our main stopping point was in Detroit, where Mark Waters, a local artist Mitch Cope, and countless others collaborated on a project to donate a skatepark to a poverty-stricken area of Detroit, Michigan. With help from various skateboarding companies, children in the neighborhood were handed out boards of all kinds from a variety of ages. The same result of happiness, excitement, and smiles became apparent when they all held something they could call their own. Emerica’s Wild in the Streets event followed the next day and with the many people I was fortunate enough to meet within these few days in Detroit, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It opened up my eyes even more to see the good in the world; all that people lack is their ability to take the time to see it in people- even the smallest changes in the world can affect lives in a positive aspect. People sometimes regard skateboarding as a childish game, but by being a skateboarder and being in a community of friendship, daily hype, and love for a unique way of living that unites people from all over the world, I’d say it is far beyond anything to what is thought of. Skateboarding is life to me and many others…
